Sara Sanchez Update

The latest update on Sara. Tomorrow they are going to evaluate her and she may be sent home with hospice care. The treatments are not working for her any longer. Sara's organs are beginning to shut down and there is nothing left to do but wait. She is on medication to control the pain and all of this can be done from her home. It is the wish of her parents to have her at home where she can be cared for by her family together with hospice care.

Her family is now making funeral arrangements, and for anyone who has gone through this ordeal you know the costs involved in it. They are in dire need of financial assistance. We are asking that everyone donate as much as possible for the funeral expenses. We thank everyone who has already donated and ask if it is possible for an extra donation from you. To those who are planning to and have not yet done so please do so as soon as possible the need is urgent for Sara's family. It is a heartbreaking time for this family, so to struggle to keep a float financially also, is an extra burden that no one should have to endure.

Thank you in advance for any help you may give. This is a work of God that can only be repaid in heaven. Sara Sanchez

Here is a reminder of why this blog was started. We heard that Sara is terminally ill with cancer and we were told that her family is taking care of her the best that they possibly can. Sara does not have insurance and in these days that amounts to financial hardships. We are trying to get donations for Sara and her family to try and help them out. An oldies CD has been created by Jesse and Emilio to give to anyone who donates to Sara and her family. Let me tell you these two guys have all the best oldies you can think of so that CD is probably worth it. So send in your donations and get the CD.

Here is my first posting about Sara again and also included is an old photo of Sara so that we may better remember her.

Sara is 57 years old and spent most of her adult years in the Beauty Salon Business

She grew up on the west side, married Sam Infanson and lived on the south side for a few years and then moved to the north side and started working in the beauty salon business.

She and Sam were married for approximately seven to eight years. They did not have any children. They divorced and she never remarried.

She has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which has developed into Leukemia. She is currently in the hospital because of bad white cells and her hemoglobin has gone down. The hospital is Our Lady of Resurrection. I don’t know how long she will be there.

She has been living at home with her mom and dad. Her sisters, Archie and Miriam, along with brother Orlando have been helping her as much as they can. Sarah does not have life insurance or medical insurance coverage, which has put the family in dire financial straits.

Valentines Day

In Honor of Valentines Day here is a poem penned by my father, the poet, which shows his love for the Island of Enchantment. Fibras de Borincano

Puerto Rico campo verde de café, caña y tabaco flores de perfumes gratos que en la montaña se pierde blanca sabana que tiende la majestusa llanura guajana de caña pura que en la bajura se ve y en la montaña el café une el llano con la altura. El horizonte lejano viste de rojo color anuncia el gallo cantór amanecer Borincano el césped fresco y lozano va evaporando el rocío y en las mañanas de estío más bonito es el color del campo con su verdor Puerto Rico encanto mío.

Al descorrer el telón de noche primaveral se nota el blanco sendal de nieblas en cada rincón el hombre trabajador contento va a sus quehaceres buscando los menesteres para la lucha empezar las dos yuntas va a enyugar siguiendo su prosederes. Jíbaro que canta y reza labra tu suelo fecundo con un cariño profundo soportando su pobreza sin temores ni pereza habre el surco siembra el grano llevando en su tosca mano la misión que ha de cumplir para así poder vivir con fibras de un borincano.

Again, I have no financial gain to get by recommending this book. The profits from any sales of this book go directly to subsidize my father's meager social security income. (never mind that he worked his butt off to contribute to said fund for over 50 years!)

Dashing

I recently was visiting a website that my son, Nelson, brought to my attention. (I'll share that website with you at the end of this post. ) I saw a link for a short movie called "The Dash" and being the curious person that I am I clicked on it... Then I thought of her, my mother who passed away ten years ago (it seems like yesterday to me). It got me to thinking about my mother's "dash".

The dash is the most important information about my mother's life... that is soooo true. My mother put a lot of life in that dash and so should we all. We go through life so busy and we don't think about "the dash" until you get to a certain age, possibly my age... and you wonder if you're dash has been good enough. I've reminiced about my life so far and I think my mom would be proud.

My hope is that we can all review our dashes right here in this blog so we can all know that our dashes have been worth the ride between years.

It is unfortunate that one of the first few posts to this blog is on a sad note, but as we all know life is a cycle and sometimes that cycle will stop short for some of us. There is one of our "kids" who is not doing well. Here is the story of Sara Sanchez as related to us by her brother and sister, Miriam and Archie.
